Provincial Nominee Program

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is run by provinces/territories. Selection criteria are set by each province or territory that participates in PNP. Candidates who have been nominated by a province or territory have to apply for PR through IRCC and undergo the inadmissibility assessment. Successful applicants must reside in the province/territory that nominated them. Except Quebec and Nunavut, all other provinces and territories are participating PNP.

How to Apply for PNP

1. Express Entry stream

If you qualify for the EE program, you have two options to apply for PNP:

1). Apply directly to the province/territories that you are interested in for their EE program. Once you are nominated by the province or territory, create the EE profile and include your nomination in your profile.

2). Create EE profile and select the provinces/territories that you are interested to apply. If you receive “notification of interest” from a province or territory, you apply for PNP through the province or territory’s website.

2. Non-EE stream

This stream is good for applicants who do not qualify for EE program, therefore, there’s no need to create EE profile. The application steps are:

1). Applicant applies directly to one or more province/territory.

2). Province/territory issues nomination approval letter to candidate and notify the Centralized Immigration Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia (CIO-S).

3). Applicant submits PR application to CIO-S.
